iPhone Trade-in Schemes – How Apple Determines Value for Older iPhone Models in US and UK?

Since August, Apple has launched its very first iPhone Trade-In Scheme, where people are allowed to trade their older iPhone in exchange of a gift card having cash in it, and can be used to buy a newer model of iPhone.

The Trade-In cost of iPhone varies from one another, largely depending upon the following conditions:

  • Current Hardware Condition.
  • Screen Quality.
  • Water Damage.
  • Previous sign of any kind of repair.

Recently Apple Inc. has also launched its iPhone Trade-In scheme in UK, where UK consumers are offered similar offer as of customers in United States.
It has been assumed that the actual value of an iPhone is its screen, which can be reused by the company along with some of its spare parts. Damaged iPhone display screens are of a much value, and people were even selling broken Display screens of these Smart phones, so you can assume what would be the worth of a good and well working iPhone LCD screens.
Before Apple Inc. a good number of other Third Party companies were also offering iPhone Trade-In schemes, and the best thing is that they were even offering better prices than Apple itself!

So here is a sum up of the entire thing offered by Apple Inc. in their iPhone Trade-in Schemes for US and UK:
  • IPhone Gift Card can only be used for the discount over newer iPhone Model.
  • The Trade-in offer is only valid when you are purchasing a new iPhone from Apple Store, you can’t just exchange your older iPhone and walk away with your Gift Card you have to buy a newer model.
  • In UK, you can be offered up to £175 Pounds in exchange of your older iPhone model.
